 Automated External Defibrillator - 4 hours

This regulated course is designed to provide learners with the skills required to use an AED and the confidence to be able to use one in an emergency. Learners do not need any previous First aid qualification

This course is beneficial to learners interested in using an AED and especially those who work for a company that have one. It will dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding the AED.

Course contents includes:

• The role of a first aider
• Managing an emergency
• Communication and casualty care
• Chest pains
• Getting to know the AED
• Operation the AED
• Treatment of an unconscious casualty
• CPR

Assessment: Learners must complete a multiple choice question paper, and must also  demonstrate practical skills including CPR, Recovery position, and treatment of injured casualties. Successful completion of both theory and practical assessments will lead to an Automated External Defibrillator certificate valid for 1 year.
